Well...

I guess I'll explain why I chose the name Barbed Wire Belly. I have endometriosis. That means that the lining of the uterus is found outside of the uterus, attached to other muscles, ligaments and organs. This tissue behaves the same way as normal tissue, thickening then sloughing off, bleeding. Because this blood has no way out it sits and irritates surrounding tissue. Causing extreme pain, adhesions and further spreading the endo tissue. The pain caused by endometriosis has been compared to the pain during childbirth BUT worse. The pain can vary in degree and frequency. For some women it isn't a huge deal. Don't get me wrong, it sucks but they can cope. For other women, like me, it controls every aspect of life. It literally feels like there's a barbed wire ball in my pelvis and then my lower torso is also wrapped in barbed wire.

Because of my endo I'm not in school, don't have my license even though I'm 18 in 2 wks, I don't really have much of a social life, I'm isolated in my world of pain.

On to happier subjects. I have a wonderful family. I'm the oldest of five. Me(Kate) 18, Wilson 14 1/2, Jared(autistic) 11 1/2, Max 10 and Princess Emma 5 1/2. My parents just celebrated their 19th anniversary. I also have an amazing boyfriend, Sam. We've been together just over 2yrs.

Because of my endo I have a service dog. Milo is a one and a half year old German short haired Lab(German short haired pointer dad, lab mom). He's AMAZING. I never dreamed when I bought him that he would be such a huge part of my life and my healing. Yes, his vest is camo. I like camo. Got a problem with that?

Look at the pretty boy

On my good days I love to cook, sew, get in the dirt, ride ATVs, be with the animals, help mom. When I feel good I rarely stay indoors. In the words of my dad "she's granola, except she shaves." I'm very conscious of what I put on and in my body, mostly because of my endo. The chemicals and hormones really don't help. I make all of my personal care products. I also have a good knowledge of natural medicine.

I guess thats all for now
